Trump administration officials announced the launch of Foundry School, a training program meant to turn out skilled workers to bolster the future of American manufacturing. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke at the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, emphasizing the need to encourage manufacturing in the United States after years of neglect. [snip] The Foundry School is aimed at training entrepreneurs, engineers, technicians and industrial leaders to support American manufacturing, according to a State Department release. Vance emphasized that the current up-and-coming workforce is going to be made aware of the wide array of options available to them in what he deemed the manufacturing “renaissance.” [snip] By 2033, nearly four million workers will be needed in semiconductor, defense, energy and other manufacturing sectors, the State Department said. The Foundry School will incorporate “first-of-its-kind” curriculum on advanced manufacturing developed by the Stanford University and also featuring lectures provided by Arizona State University, Georgia Institute of Technology, The Ohio State University, The Pennsylvania State University, the University of Kansas, Vanderbilt University, and Washington University in St. Louis, explained the department.
