A crew of criminals got caught red-handed hauling a quarter-million dollars in stolen chicken out of a big rig behind a roadside motel. Federal agents rounded up the group in Memphis, according to a release from the U.S. Marshals Service. A task force made the arrests Tuesday while serving an aggravated robbery warrant on 33-year-old Javunte Johnson. [snip] What started as a warrant sweep turned up far more than frozen birds. Detectives seized three handguns, roughly $110,000 in other stolen goods, and a stash of fentanyl and cocaine, WMC reported. Investigators concluded the merchandise coming off the truck had all been stolen. [snip] Among those hauled in was 25-year-old Quantrivious Shavers, who now faces a theft count, a felon-in-possession charge, and a fentanyl distribution charge, according to Memphis police cited by WMC. Jessie Moore, 37, also caught a felon-in-possession charge. Johnson drew the heaviest slate, including the aggravated robbery count that launched the operation. [snip] The chicken caper was part of a busy day for the task force, which logged 49 arrests total that Tuesday, the Marshals said. President Donald Trump created the multi-agency unit through a memorandum signed in Sept. 2025. The unit pulls in federal, state and local officers alongside Tennessee National Guard members. Marshals say the operation has produced 12,796 arrests and seized 2,163 illegal guns since it began.
