President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will launch an $8 billion Harvest Fuel Relief Program (HFR) for farmers struggling with high diesel prices.

Trump made the announcement during a midterm election campaign rally in Kansas on Monday, where he also stumped for Senator Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) and gubernatorial candidate Ty Masterson (R-Kan.).

The department also noted the Trump administration’s previous work for the American agriculture industry, including the FBA program’s $12 billion in one-time bridge payments to over 560,000 farmers across the country, and the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs’ nearly $14 billion payments to producers earlier this month.
