Its abstract reads in part:

This article situates school leadership in the Canadian Prairies within a socio-spatial context and ongoing impact of coloniality. It draws on Black geographies to position Black school leaders as occupying diasporic spaces in white settler contexts of the Prairies, exploring how spatial relations are constituted in contemporary social arrangements characterized by longstanding institutional oppression.

The author, University of Regina Education Professor Donna Swapp — whose “research frameworks” include (surprise) “critical theory; postcolonial theory; decolonizing theories of education; anti-racism & anti-oppressive frameworks” — refers to all the above as a “spatial gaze.”

Tomasi had given an assignment, pre-approved by his dean “other appropriate college institutions,” titled “Thinking Outside the Box.”

As noted by Suzannah Alexander at the Heterodox STEM Substack, some of the videos viewed by students featured “a Black former DEI director,” “a Senegalese entrepreneur,” “a gay British activist,” and “an Afro-Caribbean cleric.”

Students were asked to consider three things:

• “How do you decide whether a piece of information is reliable and valid?”
• “What ways are you willing to ‘think outside the box’ to understand and relate to (not necessarily justify) opinions which might be different from your own?”
• “Can you think of strategies we can all use to ‘bridge the differences,’ develop love and empathy, and a civil, nurturing, and mutual understanding of a variety of perspectives?”

The assignment led to Tomasi being subjected to a bias investigation.

Naturally, the student claimed the assignment “caused upset feelings,” made them “feel unsafe,” and said “the existence of transgender and nonbinary people is proven by the student’s own existence.”

After the investigation proved “inconclusive,” some of the aggrieved students went to social media to rip Tomasi, among other things calling for him to fired, demanding the revocation of his license, stating he “didn’t deserve to breathe,” and even bringing his wife into the mix.

The college even told him some things on his Linkedin page “have caused real hurt and concern.”

Now consider Hayes’ tweet again. It literally is perfect … even though he — still — doesn’t realize it.

Would you consider hiring someone who views everything through the lens of “oppression”? Who uses polysyllabic word salads to make themselves sound bright? Who complains about “upset feelings” because she’s expected to arrive on time (among other things)?

No wonder such dullards are enamored with figures like Zohran Mamdani, Bernie Sanders, critical theory, and Marxism. They’re charlatans and scams.
