San Francisco authorities have arrested four individuals linked to a trafficking operation following the tragic overdose death of a 16-year-old boy, an incident that has exposed the emergence of a deadly new synthetic opioid in the city’s illicit drug supply. The victim, identified as Dante Paul Lacourte, 16, was found unresponsive by his mother in their home after ingesting a counterfeit pill. During the operation, law enforcement seized over 20,000 counterfeit pills pressed to resemble legitimate prescription medications like Xanax and oxycodone, alongside quantities of fentanyl, cocaine and three firearms.
