In real-life bodycam footage that looks like it was scripted for a Daily Wire satire video, a routine stolen vehicle investigation on a Florida college campus rapidly escalated into chaos. Viral clips show an officer being confronted by a blue-haired student who belligerently demanded that the cops use his preferred pronouns of she/her. [snip] The 10-minute-long video begins with the Florida officer entering a building on the University of Central Florida campus. In the footage, the cop then walks up to a nearby student, asking him “What’s the problem?” “Why do you let those kids get away with this? They are not supposed to be here,” the student, identified as Jarrett Vick, loudly responded, per the video. [snip] The policeman explained further that he was merely on campus to investigate a stolen vehicle report, emphasizing, “I ain’t got time to hear you screaming and yelling.” Vick shot back, “I don’t have time to constantly be abused!” The officer could then be heard requesting backup, saying, “Can we get another unit … he is having a breakdown.” The student immediately yelled back, while appearing to move closer, “She! She! Just say the right pronoun!” WATCH: Court records show Vick pleaded not guilty to all three charges: battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. In an Orange County mugshot, Vick appears without the blue wig and is identified as male in official arrest documents. In response to the outburst, the officer unholstered his pepper spray as Vick took off running, shouting, “Leave me alone!” Pausing to film the encounter with a cellphone, the trans student continued screaming, stomping and jumping up and down in frustration before exclaiming, “You have been particularly abusing me!” [snip] The pronoun dispute persisted when the officer said, “He’s going to be taken away.” “Stop misgendering me! Just say ‘she!’” Vick screamed back once more, as another officer arrives on the scene. The student refused to comply with law enforcement orders, declaring, “I’m not going to be arrested,” and continuing to correct the officers’ use of masculine he/him/his pronouns while being placed in handcuffs. Eventually, the officer complied, saying, “I’m going to spray HER,” while handling his pepper spray. Vick replied, “Thank you.” [snip] The officer wearing the bodycam explained to fellow officers that he initially responded under the impression a fight was breaking out inside the building. Another officer reported that the student had swung a closed fist at him while resisting being handcuffed. Before the video cuts out, the officers can be heard discussing getting the student medical and mental health treatment while in custody.
