Half of Liberal “Bible” Seminary is LGBTQ+

Union Theological Seminary in New York once carried the dignity of a Christian institution, but today it is making headlines for a very different reason. Nearly half of its newest students identify as LGBT, according to reporting from The College Fix .

The issue is not simply who is enrolling. The deeper concern is the direction of the school, a direction that has been drifting from biblical Christianity for years. Now, the seminary proudly centers “queer identity” as a defining feature of its community. Dean Su Yon Pak claims that this “radical welcome” is at the heart of the Christian gospel, even though it directly contradicts historic Christian teaching on repentance and holiness .

Christian hospitality is real, but it never meant replacing repentance with affirmation or trading Scripture for ideology. Christ welcomed sinners, but He also called them to turn from sin and follow Him. A seminary that removes that call is not practicing compassion, it is practicing revision.

Despite all the talk of inclusion, the school openly rejects traditional Christian doctrine. Pak dismisses conservative theology as “far‑right” and insists that progressive leaders must offer “alternative perspectives” instead . That is not inclusion, it is exclusion of the very beliefs Christianity has held for two thousand years.

Union Theological Seminary may keep the name, the buildings, and the academic robes, but without the Word of God at its center, it becomes just another liberal institution with a thin layer of religious language on top. The church does not need seminaries that echo the world. It needs seminaries that stand on the truth, even when the world pushes back. The gospel does not change, and neither should the institutions entrusted to teach it.
