A real American mother just showed the country what actual love looks like. Bonnie Pierce, 38, a St. Paul, Minnesota mother of four, died Monday after she ran back into her burning duplex to save her toddler daughter. Firefighters found the unresponsive mom shielding little Grace with her own body. Pierce had already made it outside. She went back in anyway. [snip] Pierce was home with two of her daughters. One girl, Aurora, kicked out an air-conditioning unit and climbed to safety. Pierce got out too. Then she realized Grace was still inside. She ran back into the flames. St. Paul firefighters pulled both of them out. Pierce had been without oxygen for about 15 minutes and suffered burns over 48 percent of her body. [snip] Bonnie never regained consciousness and died two days later. Grace survived and is expected to recover. Family members say she remains hospitalized but is improving.
